Utility & Practical is my trend story for the summative brief, therefore I started brainstorming my initial thoughts/words when hearing that trend.

After getting these thoughts out and written down I then wanted to research into how this trendstory is being used/encorporated into fashion today so I found a number of SS19 collections which I felt captured elements of this. One of my favourites had to be the Fendi SS19 ready-to-wear collection.

This collection cleverly combines formal and casual to create powerful looks, The use of belts, buttons and large pockets resemble military details and make the garments practical, as well as the use of neutral/earthy tones. This is also done by the use of bags as they are literally practical for everyday life, not to mention the contrast it adds particularly in the neon hues. Bumbags are another example of practical clothing that is now worn primarily for fashion instead, with its functionality its secondary purpose; showing what a relevant trend Utility & Practical is as bumbags have taken over fashion in the past few months especially and are a key feature used as it breaks up an outfit adding depth and colour.
Another sense of practical in this collection is by use of styling, the slicked back hair in high, neat buns/ponytails and use of sunglasses add an edgy and suave feel. I also like how the sleeves are rolled up as it looks like the models are ready for action and is more practical / moveable than long sleeves also adding to the powerful boss-like vibes.
